Importance of addressing the root of the problem

Several years ago I was injured and was in pain, and maybe about 20 different local practitioners could not help me. I finally went to a lomilomi person and she worked on me and got rid of the pain in about 20 minutes. I lived happily ever after, but I needed to keep on stretching.

Well, I didn't stretch and it came back 100 times worse. It was a good lesson - to see that the root of the problem wasn't addressed so the problem was always there, covered. I just didn't have the pain symptoms, that's all. It was a volcano waiting to erupt.

So, good bodywork should address the root. Otherwise, it is just a cosmetic bandaid.

When roots are addressed, it is very deep work. Only a healer can tackle that. Also, the client needs to be ready for Inner Work. When roots are addressed, the work is very deep and there are profound life changes. That is what pain and symptoms are asking for - for deep and profound life changes.

Yes sure we can gloss it over, aren't we good at it. And yet, it is a strategy that completely backfires, it is buy-now-pay-later strategy, and the interest is VERY high.

Stand by Me
by ? Ben King?

When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we see
No I won't be afraid
No I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me

And darling, darling stand by me
Oh, now, now, stand by me
Stand by me, stand by me

If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall
And the mountain should crumble to the sea
I won't cry, I won't cry
No I won't shed a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me

And darling, darling stand by me
Oh, stand by me
Stand by me, stand by me, stand by me

Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me
Oh, now, now, stand by me
Oh, stand by me, stand by me, stand by me

Darling, darling stand by me
Stand by me
Oh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me

One Love, One Heart
By Bob Marley, Curtis Mayfield

Let's get together and feel all right
Hear the children crying (One love)
Hear the children crying (One heart)
Sayin', "Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right."
Sayin', "Let's get together and feel all right."
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa

Let them all pass all their dirty remarks (One love)
There is one question I'd really love to ask (One heart)
Is there a place for the hopeless sinner
Who has hurt all mankind just to save his own?
Believe me

One love, one heart
Let's get together and feel all right
As it was in the beginning (One love)
So shall it be in the end (One heart)
Alright, "Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right."
"Let's get together and feel all right."
One more thing

Let's get together to fight this Holy Armageddon (One love)
So when the Man comes there will be no, no doom (One song)
Have pity on those whose chances grow thinner
There ain't no hiding place from the Father of Creation

Sayin', "One love, one heart
Let's get together and feel all right."
I'm pleading to mankind (One love)
Oh, Lord (One heart) Whoa.

"Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right."
Let's get together and feel all right.
(Repeat)

What is my life for?

I was away all day long, mostly working far away from home, in Honolulu. Driving back, pondering what to eat for dinner, maybe stop at the supermarket and get something... Decided to keep on driving home and look into my freezer. Came home rather late and needed a quick dinner.

So I opened the fridge, rummaged around and found some frozen shrimp. The freezer was starting to get empty, I noticed. I looked at it for a second, pondering. The shrimp were on the bottom. I took them out and cooked them.

Then it struck me: the moment of opening the freezer. That thought that I have seen this before: a freezer that is being emptied out. HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I FILLED THAT FREEZER UP? ANd how many times has it been emptied out?

So here I am, someone who just empties the freezers by eating, eating, eating every day. Is that all that my life is for?

What is my life for? Just to keep on eating, filling and emptying freezers? Is that all that my purpose is? Work to fill the freezer, then eat it up. Just an eating machine, an animal.

Even worse, what is my purpose as an animal? I am not bringing any benefit to anyone or anything, I just EAT - plants, other animals, taking space, producing garbage, destroying Nature.

What is my value in the Kingdom of God, what am I supposed to give rather than just living to eat?

====

Don't you get it, God catches you in very odd moments - even opening the freezer can be opening a door to enlightment :)
Yeah, 2 yrs ago when I was in Lowe's looking at the bathroom sinks and fawcetts, one golden colored fawcett of unusually elegant design triggered something in me and I had a profound experience connecting me with the Water, and ever since then, I carefully monitor every drop of water I use.

So, don't be surprised - God works in very very very clever ways, always catching you any time he sees a chance. A chance might be when you are opening your freezer - you never know.

For general maintenance, plus: needed for low back pain and psoas- and neck pain too!

Neck and sacrum are related. If one is in pain, the other one is too, and vice versa. If one gets better, the other one gets better too. So, we can work on one to help another.

Very often, crawling on the floor on all fours will help get rid of low back ache and/or headache. If crawling doesn't help, then it is time to get more serious about helping yourself.

Just laying on the floor with knees up will make your lower back and neck relax. Then the body will be ready to be worked on and eventually stretched.

Low back pain and psoas Check out the basic rolfing exercise, basic pelvic tilt - - very similar to the one prescribed by Tomas Hanna in his book "Somatics". That book has some extremely simple yet very profound exercices that are extremely effective.

Doing this simple ropfing pelvic tilt will align the spine, relax the low back and make you completely relaxed. Do it before going to sleep for a profound sense of relaxation.

Then work the trigger points in the psoas, quad lamborum, back, and sacrum, etc. The best book is The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies.

Then, do the more elaborate psoas stretches in the links above.

You also need some quadratus lamborum stretches, so try:
facilitated stretching

Then stretch again :)

And, after working with the abdomen and the pelvis, the neck will feel much better! It won't be as forward tilted, so the neck muscles do not have to work as hard. Your posture will be better, and you will feel like a million.

You will feel like new or almost new. If you do not feel 1000% better, then it is time to look further :)

For the brave and adventuresome, look further. Some possibilities:

- A liver cleanse and/or deep colon clense might be needed. Check out angelfarms.com if you want a deep supervised 10-day cleanse, and for self help daily at home and simple kitchen cleanses read the book God Helps Those Who Help Themselves by Hanna Kroeger

- a nutritional change might be needed (e.g. quitting sugar, meat, wheat, foods that give you allergies, greasy foods, processed foods, GMO foods, ...). Common allergens: milk, wheat, peanuts, non-organic soy and corn (it's all GMO), etc. Try quitting one at a time for a week and see if you feel better. If you do - you know the answer!

- a change in lifestyle might be needed (e.g. do you drink enough water? do you need to quit alcohol or drugs? are you angry or bitter? do you meditate regularly?). This is a biggie and requires Inner Work and some deep digging. Most people leave this one alone :) Sometimes you can get away with it, for example continue drinking but quit meat. It might work - for a while. It is "buy now pay later stratagy" and there is 19% interest on those plans....

- Another look at emotional issues (e.g. are you divorcing right now? no wonder your back would hurt...)

new paradigm

More for the curious:

1. The knowledge factory: dismantling the corporate university and creating true higher learning / Stanley Aronowitz.
2. The University in Chains: Confronting the Military-Industrial-Academic Complex, Henry Giroux.
3. The Great Turning, David Korten.

This is an essay I wrote for some university professors contemplating what to do in this economic crisis. Their university fired all lecturers and GAs, and tried other measures that all seemed rather ... hm.... quick fixes.

What baffles me is literal thinking. We should think in more complexity.

First, this is in some ways better and some ways worse than Great Depression, not because of the unemployment rate and lines for bread, but because this is the collapse of the old paradigms, the old "regime".

Great Depression didn't change anything in the way people lived their lives, fundamentally. Everyone continued chasing the dollars and destroying the Nature, the economy and PEOPLE'S THINKING did not change one bit. Before and after Great Depression, it was the same paradigm - globally.
Great Depression led to developing consumerism as a quick "fix it" without any foresight to consequences, which led to more efficient and faster destruction of Natural resources, and a much faster me-me-me old fashined greedy grabby lifestyle - the same lifestyle that humans have had for centuries.... No change, just better grabbing. And all over the world. Japan, Germany, and E. Europe are the most polluted countries in the world. US produces 70% of world's trash. Oahu will lose about 40 ft of shoreline rather soon due to raising sea levels.

Right now, the whole PARADIGM is changing, GLOBALLY. And that is potentially a good thing, because now the paradigm needs to shift into something more humane, sustainable, and on a higher level of thinking, on a higher consciousness than basic ape consciosness we have had so far, grabbing as much as we could for our own okole and never thinking of consequences. The consequences are here and demanding attention:
An iceberg size of Connecticut is just about to break in Antartica, which will lead to climate change. All the garbage, the chemicals, the pollution, the complete trashing and destruction of our natural resources - globally - is now due to be "paid".

So, yes, this is way worse than Great Depression, in some ways, because the whole Earth is at stake. What we are talking about is a global crisis that is forcing us to completely reform ourselves and start paying attention.

How does it apply to this little corner of the world and our little school and our little paychecks? It is obvious that how colleges are run needs to change.

Univ. of Phoenix and many other schools established rather expensive education, but affordable to some, esp those who cannot leave work to attend classes and/or have no ability to do well in real college classes. They employ ONLY part-time lecturers who do not have to have PhD, just work experience. They pay lousy, and hire lecturers class by class. Classes are about 5 weeks.
Pros: their classes can be a lot more fun that traditional college, which is too theoretical, too ivory tower, too dry and boring to death. No hands on, no projects, no team work, students just sleep through lectures and then study on their own. Schools like U of Phoenix have real-life projects, team work, teachers have real-life experience and stories, and it can be FUN, exciting, and PRACTICAL.
Cons: it is considered low quality school. Lecturers are not paid well so why should they bother, the students are low quality and not really willing to work.
THis model has worked very well in the past, and now it is not, because of low quality their diploma is not worth a lot, so less students are interested.

Traditional colleges like UH Manoa do employ lecturers too. I know well one of them and let me tell you, it is slave labor. It translates into about $12 per hour. They had 55 students and had to grade that all every week, themself. It pays 4000$ per semester, minus tax, so ..... they taught 5 classes and made 20K minus tax last year. They have a PhD, have taught tenure track before, and are considered a good teacher. They did not want a full time job, with all the boring politics and all other waste of time associated with it. They just wanted to TEACH, and do it WELL. Unfortunately, it is impossible to make a living doing that.
Plus, lecturing is extremely stressful job, admins always want to cut your class and do cut it, at the last minute. And they are totally cutting it now, so no more work at all. If it pays lousy, that;s one thing, but if it pays lousy AND is unstable, then it is really nerve wrecking.
So, lecturing is for someone who has another job 'for real" and does this on the side. Well, if they have another job, then they are not going to have enough time to dedicate to lecturing. Sorry, but that's how it is. My friend did a lot of extra office hours, handouts, class exercises, etc. on their own time, for free. They are paid to have 1 hr of office hours per week, they always had at least 4 hrs. They were just doing the same thing like back then when they were a nicely paid visiting prof on 1 yr contract. Then they realized they are now just a meagerly paid lecturer and could not afford any free labor because they had to actually make money to eat. So they went ahead and got a full time job.
So anyone worth their salt will leave such lousy jobs. If you want someone good, pay them.

So, I would definitely not recommend any "cheap lecturer" paradigm to any university that wants to maintain high standards and a good name. Manoa has research profs - let them do research, pay good lecturers well, and let's see what happens.

So, this new happening in the world is perhaps a chance for all of us to rearrange our thinking and to stop wanting to have something for nothing. Globally, we all are trying to grab money in any way possible, even if it destroys Nature, other people, etc. Well, it is time humanity grows up.

How this translates into what to do with Manoa? I think it translates into profs doing more research and getting more grants. In terms of lecturers, GAs, to have Chancellor or not, to have a superdean or not, those are details I am not qualified to comment on. Someone with very good $ experience and a lot of honest intent will have to solve that. Faculty will have to be mature enough and work together. There is a lot of very smart people here, if you really turn your Higher brains on, you will find the solution.

I definitely advise against a short-sighted "fix" like trying to make money on GMO research and other things that are already harming and eventually will kill Hawaii land and its people, not to mention the global community, as we are all related. It has to be something SUSTAINABLE, and for a long term.

One has to be very very wise and think the old fashined way: how is what i am doing today influencing seven generations from now?

how to fix neck pain

Working on my neck, I realized that it was profoundly relaxing my sacrum, just like shiatsu says. Relaxed tail caused my head to relax. I could feel how the tightness in the head just went away and there was space and lightness in there. In other words, my craniosacral started working properly.
I was so rested and feeling just great. My complexion, eyes, skin, all glowed. Wow!

Eating GMO foods

Eating GMO foods is scary. I ate some sardines, which was rather hard on my body, and promtly developed a rash around my liver and spleen.

Sardines have soybean oil in them.

Commercial grown soybeans are all GMO. That stuff is plain scary.

how to fix lower back pain

A diary of someone I helped today:

I am almost 6ft tall and quite athletic. I stretch before and after any exercise.

Today I brought my massage chair to the market. I just put the chair down or picked it up, and suddenly I noticed I could not straighten up anymore. I was walking around bent, with pain radiating in the area where the sacrum meets the spine, across the entire back.

Oh well. I had to work 9-1, just waiting to go home and deal with this.

I tried first working on the abdomen, because trigger points (i.e. muscle knots) inside the abdomen, e.g. the psoas constellation, can throw the back. However, that that didn't work completely. Because there was no isolated pain in the back, it was all over. I could stand straighter but the ache was still there.

Then I tried working on the glutes, piriformis and other muscles around the sacrum. That helped some too. Also, it popped something in my neck and the neck felt better.

I tried stretching the psoas, the hamstrings, etc. I could not stretch the back backward when I tried the cat stretch. SOmething in the back was tight... I checked it and indeed, the mid back was really taught. No wonder it was pulling the tush up and squishing the vertebrae.

So, doing the math, I finally started stretching the back. First massaging the neck. Massaging the neck relaxes the sacrum.

Then using the roler and laying on the floor, I went from one vertebra to another, top down. That started eliminating the pain.

Then I did the very last vertebras and they were quite achey, one side more. The exact side that was injured long time ago when the chiropractor yanked my neck. I finally stretched them and that really helped. My head became a lot more clear too and my posture was better than before the accident.

Then I sat down again to work at the computer and could feel the ache. Then I used the trigger point tool (a stick with the rubber top) and stretched down all areas in the sacrum. That was the last bit that cured it all. My head is super clear, the posture is perfect now, way better than before the accident. Also, this made me go to the bathroom, as these are large intestine acupuncture points.

Connecting the dots. WHen this accident happen? After someone gave me a hug which I didn't want and didn't like. The person gives everyone a fake hug and I dislike fake. Furthermore, the person gives all women fake hugs, and makes a living doing that.

Also, a contributing factor could have been being tired after doing the taxes, and also eating mayonaise, which I don't ordinarily eat. Maybe it was too greasy.

So, more floor. THis spot gets super tight when I sit. The psoas is involved, indeed....

Hawaiian musical healing

The songs are part of a sly Hawaiian musical tradition called kaona, in which multiple meanings are conveyed through innocuous imagery. Songs that mention rocking chairs, flowers, slippery fish or sea spray might be about just those things, or something else, or both, or neither. A hula performer might say one thing with her voice and hands, and quite another with her eyes and smile.

Also, notice diffrerent translations. One has to have a good knowledge of Hawaiian language and also a good subtle brain, to pick up on all the nuances. I love it!

Papalina Lahilahi

''It seems that in old Hawaii too, there were people who always asked, 'But do you really love me?' This answer is not the gentlest. A further note: In Hawaiian songs, lovemaking is referred to poetically by mentioning mist, spray, rain.''

He aloha wau ia 'oe la

I love you

Kou papalina lahilahi

Your dainty cheeks

I ka ho'opulu mau 'ia la

Always damp

I ka hunehune o ke kai.

From sea spray.

He aha no ho'i kau la

What's the reason for

O ke alawiki 'ana mai?

Hurrying this way?

Ua 'ike iho no 'oe la

You've known

A he pua 'oe ua 'ako 'ia.

You're a flower already plucked.

'Ahulili
Ahulili is a high mountain peak on Maui. "lili" means jealous.

He aloha no 'Ahulili

'Ahulili is loved

He lili paha ko ia ala

But perhaps is jealous

I ke kau mau 'ole ia

When (loving) isn't there all the time

E ka 'ohu kau kuahiwi.

Like mist that settles on the mountains.

Eia no e ka 'olu

Here's what will satisfy

Ke 'ala kupaha'o.

The mysterious fragrance.

A lawa ko makemake

When you have what you want

E manene ai ko kino.

Your whole being trembles.

Mauna Loa

These days, at least one verse is left out for being a little too strong, even in Hawaiian.''

'Auhea wale 'oe, 'o Mauna Loa la

Listen, o Mauna Loa

Kikala nui

Of the wide stern

Ho'iho'i mai 'oe, i ku'u aloha la

Return my love

E, e, e, Ka'awaloa nei.

Here to Ka'awaloa.

Ua hiki no 'oe a'e hele ana la

Until you come

Me ka ipo manuwahi

With my lover

A na'u no ia 'oni ho'okahi la

It's my lot to be restless, alone

E, e, e i kahi pela a'o kaua.

In that place that's for us two.

Ko hinaka popopo la

Your hankie is worn out

Ua 'ai 'ia ka elelu

Eaten by roaches

A na'u no ia a sawele nei la

I use it to wipe off

E, e, e, ko kama'a miomio.

Your pointy-toe shoes.

'Alika

''This title is translated variously as Alaska, or Arctic -- no matter, both places are plenty cold. . . .

Aia i 'Alika

There in the Arctic

Ka ihu o ka moku

The prow of the ship

Ua hao o pa'ihi

Set firmly

Na pe'a i ka makani.

Sails in the wind.

Ke liolio nei

Taut

Ke kaulu likini

Rigging lines

'Alu'alu 'ole iho,

Not slack,

Na pe'a i ka makani.

Sails in the wind.

'A'ole i kau pono,

Not fixed.

Ka newa i ka piko.

The needle in the north.

Ka'a 'e ka huila,

The wheel turns,

E niniu i ka makani.

Spinning in the wind.

Ha'ina 'ia mai

Tell

Ana ka puana

The refrain.

Aia i 'Alika

There in the Arctic

Ka ihu o ka moku.

The prow of the ship.

Kane'ohe

Olapa ka uila i Kane'ohe

The electricity flashes in Kane'ohe

Ka hui laulima o i lani wai.

(because of) the cooperative association

Hui:

Chorus:

Me ka ua a Puakea

And the rain of Puakea

Ka la'i o Malulani

The calm of Malulani

Me ke anu o ke Ko'olau.

And the cliff of the Ko'olau Range

Ho'okahi mea hou ma He'eia

There's something new at He'eia

Ka uwea kelekalapa leo nahenahe.

The soft-voice telegraph wire.

Ha'ina ia mai ana ka puana

The story is told

Ua 'a ka uila a'i Kane'ohe.

How electricity burned in Kane'ohe.

At 82, Aunty Genoa Keawe WAS still going strong -- every Thursday, in fact, in the lobby bar of the Waikiki Beach Marriott Hotel, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., no cover, no minimum. She died recently.

This is a way better translation:

Ahulili

- by Scott Ha'i

He aloha no 'o 'Ahulili
He lili paha ko iala
I ke kau mau 'ole 'ia
E ka 'ohu kau kuahiwi

Eia no e ka 'olu
Ke 'ala kupaoa
A lawa kou makemake
E manene ae kou kino

Kui no wau a lei
A i lei poina 'ole
No na kau a kau

Pa'a iho oe a pa'a
Ka 'i'ini me ka 'ano'i
Ka 'ano'i no kau pua
Ka beauty a'o Mauna-hape

Haina mai kapuana
He aloha no 'Ahulili
He lili paha ko iala
Ike kau mau 'ole 'ia

A love for Ahulili
He might be jealous
For not always being on
The mist of the mountain

Here is the cool
Heady fragrance
And your desires satisfied
As your body shudders

I have plucked the flower
Strung into a lei
A lei never forgotten
From one season to the next

Hold on tightly to
Your desire and your love
The craving for your blossom
The beauty of Happy Mountain

This is the end
A love for Ahululi
He might be jealous
For not always being on
Source: Louise McKee, translated by Henry Kaalakahi - A similar version appears in Na Mele o Hawai'i Nei by Elbert & Mahoe. This song with its many versions is about Ahulili, a mountain peak in Kaupo, Maui. Lili means jealous.

God knows it all

I was feeling ravengeful and angry at someone who was doing something stupid towards me. Objectively speaking, the person was mistreating me. However: I was acting stupidly too, participating in this sick game, by getting all upset about their misconduct. I caught myself sniveling and bitching about "how could they possibly do that!!!". And did you notice - the more upset you get, the more you are likely to be poked? Some people feed on irritating others. Since my reaction provided that type of sick entertainment that made them feel important, yes, of course, they kept on poking me more, to see me wiggle. I didn't find it amusing at all! And I wanted to stop playing the game on my side. I was getting angry, I was getting cunning, I was getting proud, I was getting defensive. But of course, it never worked. I only felt worse.

Then I realized: God knows it all. God knows the path for this person and the path for me. I don't have to get all riled up because God will take care of whatever needs to happen. It is His job. Not mine.

God takes care of the whole world, so This Great Mystery will take care of every little detail, to the perfection. So why worry? I just need to keep on going about my business to the best of my ability, making sure that my duties are fulfilled. That's *all that is my job.

As soon as I thought that: I just let God take care of this, and I trust that God has the path for this person and the path for me, and each person will be led to the best possible outcome for them; I wish the best to this person on their blessed way, and I merrily go on my blessed way -

pooof! the whole thing was gone. All of the sudden, there was no more issue.

Seems like this was accidental discovery of forgiveness? :) This, in essence, is the Hawai'ian hoo'pono'pono forgiveness and mediation ceremony. Look it up. I have done hoo'pono'pono before, but in my head :) Finally, after many many repetitions, seems like a little bit sunk it a little deeper.

Why did it sunk in? Because I had some problems that I needed resolved, so I was willing to Work on myself AND without sniveling. I stopped saying "I DONA WANNA!!!" to God and I said "YES."

Also, why was I more willing to say "yes"? Because I got "toys" from God so I was more cooperative. I had something. Like kids on the playground - when you think you got nothing, when your mommy doesn't love you and the teddy bear is missing, then everything bothers you and you just sulk. When you are sure that your mommy loves you and your teddy is still there, then you become sweet and cooperative.

I feel like that - like some kid that God bribes by ocassionally reminding me that He, my Mother Father God, does love me, and that I still have the teddy bear. My teddy bear is healing work, that's what I love to do. One of my mentors was telling me that it is global crisis now so completely let go of any hopes of doing healing work professionally. My response: I am doing it anyways! What do you know about God's plans for me?

This week it was the Haleiwa farmer's market. I had lots of customers and had a great time. What made me happy is giving - giving of my gift, of my love, of my attention, and helping people feel better. The theme was "neck". Hanging out, doing orthopedic massage, out in fresh air, with so many interesting people ( mostly women), and ALL of them with the SAME really tight spot in the neck... And precisely the spot that I worked on myself, so I knew exactly how it felt and how to fix it. So I could help them.

I need to study more, to be able to help more, that's my conclusion.

How to do business

An American automobile company and a Japanese auto company
decided to have a competitive boat race on the Detroit River. Both
teams practiced hard and long to reach their peak performance.
On the big day, they were as ready as they could be.

The Japanese team won by a mile.

Afterwards, the American team became discouraged by the loss and
their morale sagged. Corporate management decided that the reason
for the crushing defeat had to be found. A Continuous Measurable
Improvement Team of "Executives" was set up to investigate the
problem and to recommend appropriate corrective action.

Their conclusion: The problem was that the Japanese team had
8 people rowing and 1 person steering, whereas the American
team had 1 person rowing and 8 people steering. The American
Corporate Steering Committee immediately hired a consulting
firm to do a study on the management structure.

After some time and billions of dollars, the consulting firm
concluded that "too many people were steering and not enough
rowing." To prevent losing to the Japanese again next year, the
management structure was changed to "4 Steering Managers,
3 Area Steering Managers, and 1 Staff Steering Manager" and
a new performance system for the person rowing the boat to
give more incentive to work harder and become a "six sigma"
performer. "We must give him empowerment and enrichment."
That ought to do it.

The next year the Japanese team won by two miles.

The American Corporation laid off the rower for poor performance,
sold all of the paddles, cancelled all capital investments for new
equipment, halted development of a new canoe, awarded high
performance awards to the consulting firm, and distributed the
money saved as bonuses to the senior executives.

Complaining vs telling it as it is

What is the difference between complaining and just telling it as it is, i.e. noticing something negative in an objective and neutral way?

The words "objective and neutral" seem to be the answer. Then one is not too involved, stuck in the feeling of being upset with the negative thing.

Complaining makes us focus on the negative and be personally invested into the feeling of blaming and being pissed off.
